True or False: As of KC’s opening day, I had just turned 23 mere days before, had never spent a day of my life in school, but still somehow managed to find the resources and tools to start a company that helps other entrepreneurs and business owners build their brands.

Truth! In fact…

Growing up as a homeschooled kid, “Career Day” wasn’t an option. Independently, I had to find what I would spend my life doing. All I knew was that I had a creative streak. What could that skill make me career-wise? A painter? A baker? A candlestick maker?

Trying to find the right job to fit me, — let alone a career! — without the paper proof that I went through the education system felt like I was a T-Rex trying to put on a T-shirt.

And just when I resigned myself to go to college for ANY degree that would pay well, life decided to throw a curveball.

My parents decided to start a real estate business and made me the head of marketing.

WHAT?!

Being in charge of a piece of the business that was as important as a vital organ in the body prompted me to ditch the college idea altogether and dive all in. I could not let my parents down. In this whole new marketing venture, success was the only option. Well, at least I knew I could put that creative streak to use. First, I had to learn everything possible about branding and marketing a new business.

Over the following years, every minute was spent discovering marketing, branding, and business-building information. Here’s what I learned:

Everything has been shared already. NOTHING is new. The only thing that changes is HOW someone says it. It’s like learning the same cornbread recipe from Aunt Bea or Uncle Stu.
Paying to learn from Uncle Stu and Aunt Bea is ridiculously expensive. I might as well have gone to college for all the money I was paying for all these courses or mentorship programs!
It shouldn’t be this difficult to make you or your business stand out.

I felt like I was wasting valuable time trying to find exactly what I needed.

And so, through this frustration and necessity, Keeping Clever was born!

KC is my own way to share with you everything I’ve learned over these past years in creating a business from scratch with mere pennies, (because let’s be honest. Starting out, we’re broke. The wealth of being a self-made man hasn’t hit yet!)
